これまでのCorneliusらしい無駄を削ぎ落とした抑制感と、これまでになく自然な情感を帯びるヴォーカルとギターソロ。

これまでにあまりなかったシンプルな構造の楽曲を、自らの音響芸術的意匠群を総動員して構築しているようで、新しい感覚と懐かしい感覚が同居する。

記憶の断片、トレモロがかったエレピをはじめとした様々な音像、それらがシンクロし宙を漂うようなPVも気持ち良い仕上がり。

「あなた」と言われているのは背中を見せる裸の女性か。

その女性が見つめる絵画はDiego VelázquezのLas Meninasか。

坂本慎太郎の歌詞も素晴らしく、英訳するとこんな感じか。

こうして見ると、Everyone loves youあたりはいわゆるラブソングのコンテキストとして違和感があるかな。

むしろ、子供が生まれた瞬間の親心を歌っているのではないかと思い始めた。

アルバムジャケットは11年ぶりの新作、6月発売予定の「Mellow Waves」。

私にとって新作リリースを待つ時間を、こんなに切なく感じさせるミュージシャンは殆どいない。
